4DGL Workshop Installation

Double-click on the 4DGL Workshop installation file (4DGL Install.exe) downloaded from the 4D Systems web site and follow the on-screen directions for installation.

If you accepted all defaults during installation, the 4DGL executable (4DGLWorkshop.exe) will be located in the "C:\Program Files\4DGL_Workshop_Version_X.X" folder. All additional folders will be created under the main Workshop folder.

The Include folder contains the required system and function files for 4DGL Workshop. The Include folder will also be used to store user-created function files that may be included in the user's code by using a simple "#inherit filename" statement in the 4DGL language code.

The Project folder is used to store 4DGL Projects and contain source code (*.4dg) and any other resources required for each project. The installation program will install a number of sample 4DGL programs in a Project folder named Samples, these are to illustrate the use of the 4DGL language and demonstrate its capabilities. From there, you can use the Project Manager to make your own Project folders. Projects are easily copied, renamed and modified by the project manager. You can also add any type of file to your project using the Import button on the Project Manager.

Any Projects that are deleted from the Projects folder by the Project Manager are placed in the Archive folder so you can easily retrieve projects that are accidentally deleted.

Uninstalling 4DGL Workstation

The main Workstation folder, "C:\Program Files\4DGL_Workshop_Version_X.X", contains an uninstall program (Uninstal.exe) which may be used to remove the 4DGL Workshop from your computer.
