Description
The μUSB-CE5 (microUSB-CE5) is a USB to Serial UART bridge converter which is simple, cost effective, very small and easy to use. It uses its own PCB as a card edge type connector to plug into a USB A type cable or directly into a USB hub port. The absence of a mechanical connector makes the μUSB-CE5 a very low profile device. The design is based around the FT232RQ from FTDI and provides the user with multi baud rate serial data up to 3M baud rate. Standard 0.1” pitch 5 pin female or male header can be soldered to provide the essential signals and power to any application. RX and TX signals are both 3.3V and 5V tolerant.
Features
See datasheet for extended information.
Installation
Driver Installation - Windows: Download the executable file " Drivers for Windows", from the Latest Firmware section on the left, into a folder on your system. Run the driver installer application and follow any prompts. This will copy and install all necessary files to your system. Attach the μUSB-CE5 module to the USB port and you're ready to use it. You will need a USB-A cable.
COM Port
How to determine which COM port is allocated to the μUSB-CE5: Go to Control panel and double click on the “System” Icon and the “System Properties” window will open up. Click on the “Hardware” window tab and then the “Device Manager” button. Go down the list and expand the “Ports (COM & LPT)” devices. There you will see the COM port that has been allocated for the μUSB-CE5. Take note of the COM port number (e.g. COM4) as you will need this when configuring the COM port for applications that need to communicate with the μUSB-CE5 such as the " PmmC-Loader" software tool, " 4DGL-Workshop IDE", etc.
